St Leonards Sharing TIMEBANK , "Ethical Outings in Hastings" & the 2nd anniversary of the pier fire.

PRESS RELEASE (On the first day of demolition of another UK Pier - Great Yarmouth)

St Leonards Sharing Timebank now enables you to earn credits to go to the local theatre.

Before securing the Timebank deal with The Stables, The Odeon & The Electric Palace, a performance is taking place at Southwater Area Community Centre, followed by a weekend dedicated to establishing & training the Hastings Community Justice Panel. (Being head-hunted for these posts on the Panel are those most concerned about a just outcome for those who were on the pier on 5th October 2010).

So here's the story line for the 5th October 2012 performance of the drama "Ethical Outings in Hastings":

'In Hastings, the town that is the last bastion against the invasion, the pier burns down and, though two individuals who jumped off the burning pier are apprehended, no one is charged. In storms Paul Crosland (like a bull in a china shop) and his angel friends with some wacky ideas about how justice could be done; not to mention his gaggle of blogs like http://sussexcommunity.blogspot.com & http://additionalinfo.blogspot.com

As it says in Hamlet; "the play's the thing wherin we'll catch the conscience of the king".
However, unlike 'decisive Hamlet', my first script writer thinks that this play is "all talk" & I have much dynamic tension still to build in. Thus there will be some action to on the night of the 2nd anniversary relating to the ethics of "outing" people and making life more wonderful for all.'

And naturally we got to know each other a lot better.

Incidentally, I'm very impressed with your Chairing of the Hastings Action for Happiness Meeting with Mark Williamson in September (which I watched yesterday on You Tube).  Everyone there got time to say what they wanted to & it seemed a most productive Meeting; indeed, I think it's a model of its kind.

Action for Happiness 

& Mediation Support Centre

At the centre by St Leonards Warrior Square Station, the UK's leading "Action for Happiness" group & Mediation Support Ltd provides:

• Happiness 101 sessions (as an introduction to developing "life's most important skill")
• Support for setting up local well-being groups. (These groups generate mutual support & skills sharing within neighbouring streets)
• The first UK depot for www.streetbank.com - hundreds of household resources being shared via the Southwater Area Community Centre.
• A space for free complementary medicine sessions for the local community.
• Support with inter-personal conflicts and award-winning innovation in communication between crime victims, their offenders and the wider community.
• Courses which support personal empowerment and the ability to "harvest the fruits of all the conflicts we inevitably have".
• "Good Weeks" and "Festival Tents which offer a happiness experience" (Some earlier work Paul did in a free tent got written-up in the book "The Moneyless Man" -extract here)

The work of the Hastings/ St Leonards Action for Happiness & Mediation Support Centre & it's founder, Paul Crosland, has been endorsed not only by the local MP, but by a partner-charity (the Centre for Peaceful Solutions), by youth offending team and police staff, and by a quick petition from over 40 people who engaged with and supported our work during our recent agoodweek, and who all wanted us to ask for rent money for the voluntary work to continue for the coming year.
